2019 Adult Education

Coming up:

For the last 230 years Jews have been involved in opera from writing librettos, composing music, singing and production.  This does not include operas written about Jews and Judaism.  Every once in a while we have an opera written by a Jew, about Jews and performed by Jews.  During an hour and a half we will look at some of these with emphasis on the last category.  Operas will be illustrated with video examples.  Led by Michael M. Eisman, Ph.D., a retired professor of history from Temple University.  While basically an ancient historian and archaeologist, he has taught courses on high culture in Europe including opera both to undergraduates and adult education audiences.
